Look For

Soft and smell sweet. Remember to handle them carefully – their fragile skins bruise easily. Figs will not ripen after being harvested so avoid very firm figs as they will not ripen further.

To Store

Store fully ripened figs unwashed in a plastic bag in the refrigerator  for up to 2 days; bring to room temperature before serving.

To Prepare

Figs are usually eaten whole, skin and all. There is no need to cut the fig into smaller pieces or to remove the seeds. Just wash the fresh figs in cold water.
