For a while now we’ve been seeing this trend all over Instagram, Pinterest and food blogs: avocado toast is certainly taking over. The reason for this trend? It’s a quick, easy and delicious way to have a healthy breakfast!
What is it exactly?
Avocado toast is simply a toasted slice of bread topped with a puree or slices of avocado. It couldn’t be simpler! Since we’re often in a hurry, this recipe is really convenient on a busy day. You can even bring the ingredients with you for lunch and assemble it all at school or at your desk. When you have more time in the morning, they make a perfect gourmet balanced breakfast. The best part is, the flavor combinations are endless!
Ingredients for a successful toast
1 slice of whole wheat bread, toasted
½ ripe avocado
salt and pepper to taste
A touch of lemon or lime juice
Your favourite extra toppings
- A poached egg and grilled veggies
- Smoked salmon, slices of red onions and radish
- Halved cherry tomatoes and feta cheese
- Pesto and toasted walnuts
- Goat cheese, figs and a touch of honey
- Roasted chickpeas and roasted peppers
- Corn, black beans, cilantro and smoked paprika
